Art I've made this year
I started taking a mixed media printmaking class at the end of last year, and have continued going to the studio once a week ever since.
This post is a loose collection of some pieces I've made this year. Most of the images here are monotypes which is a type of printmaking made by adding ink to a flat surface and pressing paper over the top with a printing press.
I'm finding it useful to comb through my work and look for themes in subject matter and color choices. Thus far, I tend toward simple round shapes like circles, dots, and loops. I use a lot of pink and orange too.

Wall containing some of my prints and mixed midea work. The piece in the top right corner is a collage by my teacher Martha Bloom.

Soft Practice is where I think through the questions I'm living with: How to build a creative practice within serious constraints? Is it possible to decenter work without sacrificing craft? What does it mean to be rooted in a place? What happens when you use AI as a creative partner instead of just a productivity tool? I write about living slowly, parenting, engineering leadership, and making art.
