This weekend I made my own artist trading cards as part of Women & Creativity month in Albuquerque. This is my second year participating, and I highly recommend it if you're wanting to do a fun artsy project in the month of March! Here's how to make your own:
Gather a group of friends to make 10 cards each. The ones provided by Women & Creativity were 2.5in x 3in. and they were simply cut from some type of multi-media paper. If you want, you can cut a whole bunch out and give them to your friends so all they have to do is start drawing, collaging, painting, etc. right on the cards.
Decorate your cards in any way you'd like. I recommend setting aside 2-4 hours to get all of them decorated. I chose decorate my cards with watercolor paints and then added text from the "Personal Bill of Rights." Some people use stamps, magazine cuttings, or even miniature stencils.
Once your cards are decorated, add your name and contact info to the back..
Trade your cards with friends! With Women & Creativity, you have to mail all your cards back to the program coordinator who shuffles your cards with everyone else's, and then mails you back a set of 10 random cards from other artists. It's like a little present that comes straight to your mailbox!
